MEET SARA
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
& Clinical Consultant/Supervisor

My aim is to provide a compassionate, tailored therapeutic service, which offers opportunities to experience new ways of being, with greater capacity to experience connection, regulation and joy.
I value the restorative power of connecting with nature and being in the company of my horses Django and Johnny.
I know myself the healing power of play, rhythm, drumming, movement, mindfulness, storytelling and art. I have woven these therapeutic creative experiences into my clinical work and completed additional training so I can offer Nature-Based Expressive Arts Therapies, Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Equestrian Tai Chi and Therapeutic Drumming.
I have had the privilege of providing creative therapy with children, families and adults, for more than 30 years and valued the opportunity to teach Social Work and Counselling at UWS.
Over the last 15 years I have also enjoyed providing clinical consultation/supervision to other Social Workers, Counsellors and Therapists. I am proud to be an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and grateful for the privilege to help ‘made a difference’ in the lives of others.
I offer therapy either out in nature, or in my cosy therapy stable on the property at Darkes Forest. Experience has taught me the importance of providing a safe therapeutic relationship and I will tailor the therapeutic work to your unique needs and circumstances.
I can offer a range of trauma informed and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, gestalt therapy, mindfulness integrated CBT and DBT. These approaches are integrated with Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Nature-Based Expressive Arts Therapies.
My work is strengths and resiliency based and family centred, and my social work values (‘person-in-context’, cultural awareness and social justice understandings), always inform what I offer. I’m honoured to be credentialed for offering services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

Professional qualifications:
BA in Applied Social Studies

I keep up to date with developments in evidence-based practice with trauma, anxiety and neurodiversity and the fields of Nature Based Expressive Arts Therapy, along with current developments in neuroscience.
